Learn the basics on how to install a tankless water heater. I cover water quality, gas sizing, venting and electric. We highly recommend installations are done by a plumbing professional, so if you are not a licensed plumber, please visit our website at www.takagi.com to find one in your area. Feel free to also contact a local office near you.

  • Thank you all for your comments. Here's an update. 1. The video was shot before I could fix the electrical connection. It has the proper 3/4" cable clamp/romex connector now. 2. It has been in service in my home since 2007 and has worked without flaw. With 2 small children I am very comfortable knowing we don't have the scald issues like we did with a tank.

  • That endless hot water mantra is basically nonsense. The endless supply depends on two very important things. The incoming cold water temperature and the amount being used. If two people are taking showers, someone turns on the dishwasher, someone else kicks on the clothes washer, trust me, you will have tepid water being delivered. Not so with my 75 gallon water heater with its 75,000 BTU recovery rate. Having 7 people in my household, we never run out of hot water with this setup.

  • @PaulMosher There are two ways of getting around any scalding issues without resorting to the expense of a tankless heater. One, lower the water temperature in your tank type water heater. Two, change over to anti scalding fixtures where children are likely to use water, i.e. shower, bathroom wash basin

  • Awesome products I love Japanese Stuff

  • Careful with the water quality, those small inlet filters can get clogged really fast., reducing the flow, causing fluctuations in water temperature.

  • That "electrical connection" looks a bit sketchy, and maybe not quite up to code...

Hey man, just curious why you think Takagi sucks.

I've installed a bunch and haven't had any problems.

    Thanks

  • I'm not trying to be a nit picker, but after 30 years being in the electrical trades. I noticed that your 120 volt supply line is fed through the 1/2" KO hole without the required compression bushing, or atleast a standard 1/2' romax connector...

I see that there's a knot tied in power cable, which would probably keep the unit from being damaged incase someone yanks on the cord, but I would feel a lot better, if the cord were ran through a bushing or connector...
