"She has no idea about reality"
Quite true about it. One telling thing is that she hated her own life, she hated her mother for not being rich and raising her in a wealthy background, and hated her own hometown. So much self loathing, that is what characterized her life and eventual downfall. One comment was "What life? The one she lived, or the one she dreamed?"

I have just finished watching this film- it is absolutely beautiful.

I found it impossible to take this film seriously, it was simply ridiculous, like watching a soap opera. The only justification I can think of is that the director wanted to make a farse out of it..

Does anyone know when this film will be released in the US? Will it go to theaters or will it go straight to DVD? I have even spoken to friends in Russia who have already seen this film on TV! I noticed that it is not available on DVD in the US! How absurd! Who has the distribution rights?

I love this film, is different from the book, but both are very good.
This movie is a piece of art,a piece of meta-art. And it reflects itself as torn between art (Ésmé) and commerce (Angel). So far. So good. So vulgar. Because art is shown with all the well-known stereotypes beginning with adultery. And with every stereotype the art of Ésmé turns out to be commercial and will only emain in consumption. In contrast to the real art of Angel: her ability to create a reality of her own. Untouched by any market. Untouched by any audience. Bad for consumption.

I agree with wetdahlia: this movie is a piece of art !!! a film about dreams and reality... and angel is lost between the two of them. Unfortunately, this film is not famous and it did not reach the success it deserved so much: what a pity !
