On Lana Del Rey's new album, the American singer-songwriter brings a fresh approach to baroque pop, but doesn't really bring the depth or substance to back it up.

What do you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next?

  • I knew you'd give this album a low rating. I'm just not buying into all the harsh reviews on the album. I loved most of the songs, and I thought her style was really creative. Oh well, I don't care if I'm alone in liking her stuff.....GO LANA!

  • The reason why I don't like this review is because it's pretty much saying that Lana Del Rey is all image and no substance. This album has a HUGE Lolita theme to it(For example: The song Off to the Races directly quotes Lolita by Nabokov) and if you can mix classic literature and modern day music it should be recognized.

If you don't know about Lolita it would suggest reading it because it's really good.

Anyway, that's my opinion. Deal with it.

  • I think you couldn't relate or understand the "message" because you're a male and it is a very girly album. lol

  • @PorshSings that's like an album based on the themes of catcher in the rye

  • lana del ray is cool stop trolling

  • When I first heard ABOUT Lana Del Rey I wrote her off as just another Lady Gaga wannabe, but then I listened to Born to Die on Spotify...I have to admit, she's actually pretty good. Not great, but a pretty good artist. She has potential.

  • @PorshSings Just because the standards for pop music are so low, literary references should salvage the entire album?

  • i literally love all the songs on this album... sometimes her vocal performances aren't the best, but i put that down to nerves.. anyone whose listened to the album can tell that her vocals are amazing. go lana i hope she does well

  • @PorshSings Anyone can throw in a quote from a famous book. Tons of music uses classic literature. Nothing to be impressed by.

  • I really love this album, she is so unique compared to someone like, well... honestly, a lot of artists. The sound is so different, I think it is really refreshing. She was not good on SNL, that is true, I will admit. But if you look at other videos of her singing live, you will see that she is talented. Also, she may be better on the album, but lets face it, even The Beatles in their later days were beter on their albums. At least she has a theme to her album. I love the beats as well btw.

  • @Mattluvzunot Are you Pitchfork?
