This is my 1986 z28 tune port injection camaro. Stock 305 tune port with over 200,000 miles. I've got a rebuilt 700R4 tranny with a shift kit. Burns rubber like hell when it shifts into second gear.

  • I've got an 84 stock z-28 with an art carr perf tranny which is rated to 450 hp - The engine has 75K OG miles and has been garaged kept for a decade. It is pretty tits except for the 220 stock HP. The torque converters suck'd that year, so 2.5K in to the tranny. Original owner. Question

Should I put a chip in it and it is carb'd. WWJD? I'm in cental CA I'm thinking about letting it go. I also have an 80's 350 w 4 bolt main sitting that is barely broke in by a good female driver. ask me.

  • @Schwaigerwappen Well if your 84 is carb'd then you cant put a chip on it, though I would suggest you build up that 80 especially if its a 350 4 bolt main. There is defiantly potential there lol.

  • That does not sound like a stock 305! Sounds great though!

  • @ewskater1992 I know right? But it is, it even had 200k miles!

  • I wish I could have seen the tach. My 86 Z doesn't take off like that. Did you put a gear in it or do you have the stock 3:42?

  • @huntergluck Yea its just the stock rear end.

  • Can you post up some more details about your car? What kind of exhaust do you have? My engine used to sound like that but I replaced the muffler with a Borla and its too quiet. Also, do you know what the RPO code is for your rear end? You should post some more vids!

  • Someone who is not me wrecked the Z. It's totaled. About 30 - 50 ft from an intersection, a post put a V in the Z. Don't want to blame the driver, but.......dunno.

Post was removed even thou no damage to it, wondering.

Had a psuedo mechanic look at the engine and he read the #'s as a 1970 with the double humps on the heads. So, maybe another 70's car that needs an engine will pop up. know the history somewhat. Thanks for your input. Wear those seat belts kids. Thanks again - no smog

  • sounds like an isky 270

  • Nice!

  • @blindskater200

anti-freeze has rust inhibitors, lubricants, if you do not feel it is a lubricant rub some between your fingers.

why would everyone be doing this, it is not cheaper.

  • @aminimaleffort I can not believe this. Auto trans fluid has detergents in it, anti-rust agents, and much more that antifreeze can not offer. Plus, it provides very minimal lubrication at all. Something has to be added to it if your statement is true because I know you just can't throw some antifreeze in your trans and run it or everybody WOULD be doing this.

  • @FatFred2U And by the way, I was assuming your car was the auto. If you had the manual trans (T-5?) then it would not have a cooler or cooler lines. But I have encountered a 6 speed with cooler lines and a trans cooler. It was in an F550.

  • @FatFred2U What car does not have a factory trans cooler built into the radiator? All automatics I've seen have had cooler lines that have lead up to the radiator. Even your IROC, which had the 700R4, would have cooler lines going up to the radiator. Ford's C4, which was used in Mustangs for many years, also has cooler lines. Every automatic transmission that I personally have encountered has had cooler lines running up to the radiator.
