Launching of Wellness Week in Harlem, New York City, 09/16/2011

Sponsor: NY Academy of Medicine, World Economic Forum & PAHO Venue: Harlem State Office Building Plaza This was the kick-off for Wellness Week in NYC, which featured speeches by the Director of PAHO, the NYC Commissioner of Health, Harlem Chamber of Commerce, World Economic Forum, as well as local & state politicians. Dr. Mirta Roses spoke about Wellness Week in the Americas and the Mayor presented a Proclamation for Wellness Week in New York city. Additionally, the launch included a health fair, healthy activities, farmer's market & healthy foods demonstrations. PAHO featured a booth to promote information and give-away items. Towards the end of the event videos were shown with messages from Mayors of many cities in the Americas & how they are celebrating Wellness Week in their municipalities.
