Here are 3 flutes in E minor pentatonic: A Hawaiian Koa flute and a Claro Walnut flute by Laughing Crow (Richard Maynard) and a purpleheart & curly maple flute from John Stillwell at Ancient territories flutes.

More tips can be found on my website: http://www.allenbruceray.com

  • @tambriz1972 John's flutes are not known to have a warble. this one was just a fluke. It does happen from time to time even in my flutes but yes there are several aspects that can cause a flute to have a warble only on the root note (all holes closed) it has everything to do with the angle of the spliting edge and how much he had to take from inside the tone holes to tune it. Does not mean that it s a bad flute, quite the opposite actually.. ~D

  • Have you tried other Ancient Territories flutes in E (or other keys)? Do they all have the warble? Could the warble on your Ancient Territories E minor flute be due to the position of the block/bird/fetish? Could the warble be because the flute is made of hardwood? Or maybe because it has the added Wet Out pad (or lack thereof) that AT Flutes offers? I'd like to get an Ancient Territories Craftsman-style flute but I'm hesitant because I don't want to order a flute with a warble.

  • Ah, what beautiful flutes, the sound of the Koa sent chills out from my chest cavity.

  • Bruce,

So helpful to see & hear all these beautiful flutes! Thank you SO much.
