Although the G20 protests took place in Canada and not in the United States it is a very recent example of excessive police force and the need to record such abuse as a defense in court. Straightd0pe made a great video on the subject and here it is.

However that above clip has one very obvious edit. It has sound and when compared to the full video which shows him driving at a dangerous speed, why is the audio muted? Still based on some motorcycle owners I have talked to it is possible not to hear the police when driving down the road

Anthony Garber who posted the video on YouTube is now facing 16 years in prison for his video. He was not arrested at the time of the stop but was only cited for doing 85 mph. The posted speed limit was 60mph.

@HappyCabbie I agree, when you have been chased for the last 5 miles by lights and siren then a guy jumps out with a gun there is about a 100% chance it will be a cop yes. FYI even if the guy wasn't a cop it makes no difference because a civilian is aloud to arrest when someone is committing a crime.

Irregardless, in my opinion the police were wrong to try to put this man in jail for recording them.

I think you may be 100 supportive of what the police should be but there's no way you could support our rights to watch them and still be 100 percent supportive of them. Being 100 percent supportive of them is to be much like these other numnuts on here who believe they can never do any wrong and don't even need to be watched in the first place.

I have a ccw permit and i carry a gun 24 hrs a day, just because you have blue lights on dosnt make you a cop. we have lots of fake cops in america. when that man jumped out of that car no uniform no badge and pulled a gun, well i have the right to protect my life. it could have gone bad real fast. If you are a cop you better show yourself or call for a marked police car. that guy was not looking like a cop at all.

Completely agree, Police are not always right. Huge proof of that from the whole *peaceful protest* there was absolutely no reason to shoot a gun at a innocent person, the person has not committed a crime and was only protesting.

If the justification for outlawing the filming of police is privacy then that means the dash cams on police cars are illegal. Someone explain how it would be illegal for me to put a camera on the dash of my car facing my driver's window recording during a traffic stop because it would invade the officer's privacy while the officer has a camera on me in nearly the exact same location except that I would be in my own vehicle where there is something closer to an expectation of privacy than out.

It isn't brandishing though. He was using it in a lawfull manner to stop a person in the process of comitting a misdemeanor at the least..

the cops are freely aloud to record you from a dash cam why cant you do anything to them .
