I can't wait for the Government to take over control of my life! They do such an outstanding job with Social Security, taxes, bailing out banks, killing brown people, education, nation building, Swine Flu, and many more things. The beauty of it all is they never skim anything off the top for themselves or friends! They always tell the truth and have never corrupted any program. Regardless of the Roberts's legal acrobatics, the mandate does not make insurance a tax. You never heard the right-wing talking heads calling it that before this decision, and it's no more true now. For the vast majority that already had an insurance plan, nothing changes.

The fact is a mandate is the second best thing to the far superior single-payer model. Now healthcare is mandated for all, but the problem of the leeching middle-man is still there.

Call me one of the wierdo's if you want, but I simply dont like how this HC system was put in place. In so many words they told the public to buy a used car off the side of the road, but you cant ask questions or test drive it first lol. Maybe nothing is wrong with the system itself, but i dont like the fact that Obama lied "no new taxes" yet thats the only way the bill could be legal. He knew that. He knew it would be challenged, he knew he would get caught. So, whats under that hood?? :)

Fine interview. Paul asks some strong questions, but this Dr Flowers evidently is a real one. She & ilk evidently hold to the Hippocratic Oath of medicine.

Her philosophical outlook is clearly one that's social, rather than individualist.

A society based too much on individualism is not going to be healthy, & one that's socially oriented & healthy doesn't preclude the ability to have an individual conscience that's moral. And any moral conscience will want healthy society & to care about others.

So there are some things justifying complaints about the social healthcare system in Quebec, but the complaints aren't about having a social HC system. It's about the govt badly degrading the HCS. I was away during all of 1990s, but the HCS in Quebec was very good during '80s & '70s.

So that's the only complaint, & the quality of the HCS could be restored. It's just not being done; due to f*cked up govt.

Heh, rctube1958 is just another American idiot. The country is overrun by such people. Like you say for the UK, I'm in Ca & have never heard or read of anyone complaining about the social healthcare system when it's available. In Quebec, which is the province I'm located in, the social healthcare system has been badly degraded over the past decade or more. If you go to a hospital emergency room or a medical clinic in Quebec, count yourself very lucky if you get to see an MD w/in 12 hours.

You forgot patent and copyright Law, business law, property law, a common currency - the socialization of money. The privileges and liabilities of corporations are granted by government. The legal system and its police are beloved of both government and business when the public protests either of them.

Obamacare is nothing like the National Health Service. The NHS is far superior to this dogsh$t of a healthcare bill we were given in the U.S. by an imperialist president, congress, and supreme court.
