Eli Pariser of the progressive organization MoveOn says the Internet is hiding things from us, and we don't even know it. In this TED Talk he calls out Facebook, Goggle and other corporations who are transforming the Internet to suit their corporate interests.

I DO NOT own this or the rights to this video. I am sharing it because the message is critically important has to get out there and people have to demand to have to option to filter or not.

  • why doesnt google just put a button that says "Customized search", when you click on it you get results based on YOU. That button changes caption to "General search" and when clicked, you get results based on what the whole world in general is looking for.

Maybe it could be a list instead of a button where you can choose different countrys or categories which gives you results based on what a country is looking for the most or what searches containing something relative to the category.

  • Pretty Scary that All our info is " PIPED " through Google, Twitter, Facebook, and a few other sites . And Corporations rushing to control them ... Jeez

  • if this is true: hey "internet" give us all from you!!!!

  • @firephoxx1 not true at all.

they could reset to default after every session.

people would love to be able to see whats going on in the search-world.

  • @bloodaid because that would not trap people into going to the sites that give google money.

  • Opening up to more content starts with opening up your perspective right now and use what is already out there as alternatives.

Bing, Lycos, Altavista, Yahoo and much better than facebook: Path.

Instead of demanding change from FREE services, how about switching to their competitors to send a signal. People become so self-entitled when they're online, it's a bit hypocritical tbh.

  • I agree with the speaker. I was wondering who he is.

  • Selective sensationalism

  • For those we do dislikes for this video.... I identified Mark Zuckerberg and Adam Smith: oP

  • I gave a speech recently at a TED sponsored event. It is a great "ThinkTank." I wonder why Google and Facebook are trying to edit my content? I don't like it. I like to be challenged byt seeing what I don't necessarily want to see. How about they stop filtering us?
