That would be an interesting meeting EnBel. A basic permaculture certificate course can cover a lot of ground in teaching design thinking for the outer landscapes. Knowledge and experience in any wholistic psychology - Jungian and post Jungian - will set you up for exploring the inner landscapes.

work with the unknown? ...how on earth can one 'work with the unknown' except to simply observe (fully engaged in the observing) nature ...our immediate surroundings ...each other

looking at the web of the compost pile ...I thought ...where is the pseudoscorpion?!? ...but I think I found it top second critter in ...the pinchers are quite different though if it is indeed a pseudoscorpion

gender issue?!? another oops in his 'arguement' ...actual fact both historically and today...

farming is a way of living for both males and females yes often they did and still do have different jobs but that is by choice especially when the focus of the farming choice is sustainability and mutual profitability (over flowing among groups of farms) ...this is so true that the mutual benefit and mutual profitability pours out to the next larger unit ...the surrounding community

...introduces another aspect of sustainability ...profitability the two are synonymous in their mutuality ...mutual benefit and mutual profit within the system is what makes the system sustainable ...when profitability becomes the focus ...the goal ...then mutual profit often gets left by the wayside ...the sustainable concept suddenly becomes story ...a marketing tool and myths abound

Mr Hill's 'arguement' suddenly went sideways at the point of sustainability in terms of farning

sustainability is about the ability of 'the system' to sustains itself  ...'rewarding' is artificial ...is outside intevention

...the effectiveness ...the efficiency ...the quality of the 'produce' ...is the proof ...is the reward(if necessary) ...is the evidence to the actual sustainability of the system

when one considers 'produce' into the equation of the 'the system' sustainability then one...

why are you willing to pay more for organic food? ..is a very interesting question...why?!? ... one might ask would one still consider it an 'interesting' question ...Well it is because it has been asked before for a long time ...in the asking ...and for a long time there has been a built in belief that organic food costs more to 'produce' ...in fact organic farming is the most economical way of restoring, rebuilding and maintaining our most basic resource ...our land ...our earth

Thanks - will do. No issue about "going past" anyone, but best to involve those who are conscious about how they can design as a skill. It's a more abstract ability to perceive, think about and design multi-interdependent answers that would need to get learned by a student of this design course. It's the skill of being able to design that needs designing, applied to any specific use, not just permaculture applications. Designing for engineers, entrepreneurs & life coaches, etc.
