If your old editing software turned your video into AVI, it should do the same with your new camera. The only thing you have to look at with YouTube is the size of the file. AVI takes up a lot of space, so you either need a shorter clip or try other formats:MPEG4 is best, or you can sacrifice the quality using MOV, WMV etc.
