Daughters - Self Titled ALBUM REVIEW

Daughters - Self Titled released 3/9/10 on Hydra Head Records.

Daughters is back with their 3rd full length on Hydra Head Records. I went in this record with only hearing one track. What we got here is a very different approach compared to their early workings. Very groove oriented but still those aggressive moments. The guitars are very robotic and alien sounding which I really like. Vocals are similar to the style in Hell Songs with that slurry style. I definitely hear some Sonic Youth and Patton influences for sure. I really love the noise math rock thing they got going here. A very solid release for sure!

I have to agree with the comment below i love the channel but the silly skits just dont work. Remember you dont have to compete with The Needle Drop or whoever. I understand why you may be adding them in but we like to hear what you think not see irritating, and rather distracting edited effects. Inasmuch the vids are interesting enough and you always provide a compelling dialogue to your reviews.

I don't see any Patton influence. And That Locust influence you're talking, they left it with Hell Songs to develop that amazing album with their own entity and sound.

I can't hear anything robotic/alien. I just hear despair and chaos.

Este es de mis albums favoritos del año pasado. Es demasiado adivtivo. Mi rola favorita es THE HIT, la que considero mas adiciva de escuchar, the first supper tambien es un rolon, y Our Queers es otro rolon, pero igual siento, que la voz me deja mucho que desear, creo que por ello, no fue el mejor creo :/

I'm glad Daughters is dead.

The debut vinyl, and Canada Songs was wicked as shit. Hell Songs went somewhere else, still grinded ass.

I "streamed" the last album, that self titled on revolvermag. Could've downloaded it all but it's so organized it's just not Daughters @ all. Fuck them, that last album is way soft.
