Every year there seems to be more and more hummingbirds! Although there is a ton of hummys throughout the day we seem to get the majority first thing in the morning and right before dusk. The feeder you see was filled up less than 24 hours ago.

  • Where did you get the feeder - haven't seen one like it.. loved the video

  • @morningstarworks I bought it at Wal-Mart and if I remember right is was around 15 dollars. :)

  • Fabulous. (So sorry, I inadvertently made a "thumbs down" comment on previous post.) My apologies, it was a slip of the thumb whilst I was engrossed in this engaging show!

  • Thanks. :)

I put a "thumbs up" and it seem to take away the thumbs down so hopefully that fixed it. :)

  • How do you get so many hummers to come? I usually only have about 2 or three every year, although I have put plenty of feeders out. We have a butterfly bush and some flowers around, but I have never seen the amount of hummers several people have shown. What do I need to do to increase my population? They have already gone for the winter. :( Thank you for your info

  • Hi traumacodequeen, my last hummer left just a couple of days ago, here it is the middle of Oct and they are usually gone months ago!

The mix I use is roughly 6 cups of sugar to 15 cups of water... do this at the beginning and then after a bit you can tone the sugar down if you like. I've heard that attaching long red ribbons to the bottom of your feeder helps attract them, although I've never had to do that. Put your feeder up early before your neighbours do and that will help :)

  • The hummers there must be a more agreeable sort than the ones in California. Here you get one or two who take over the feeder, lurk nearby and won't let any other birds near it. I've even seen them attack much larger orioles at the feeder.

  • ok, that settles it... i've gotta get my own hummingbird feeder... we get a few h-birds, cuz they love my tithonias (mexican sunflowers), but i want a swarm of my own, too!

  • @MrSanjavierino Yep. So sorry, bet it's the only one you got! Carry on the good work.

  • @normalil So you are the One hahahahah

  • O thankyou! I'll be more careful in future.
