i agree. i mean it works for some people, but i think dogs really value your praise and acceptance. however, we had a pup once who just didn't give a crap about what we said. he thought we were neat but he was independent and didn't respond well to praise. we were missing critical training time so we used a combination of praise and treats until he learned to really love us and respect us and want our praise.

good point!. And if You are going to use treats then try to make them healthy like carrots or grapes. My dogs get 1 greenie treat a day to keep their teeth healthy. praise has been the best training reward I have ever used.

READ ME: puppy senses work in the order- smell-sight-sound .... the best way to train a puppy is by using scents, a unique scent for whatever command/message u wish to relate.. once ur pup learns to ,say, go potty whenever it smells lemon grass, start using gestures and verbal commands with the scents.

i have a newfoundlander and when he tries to mis behave, sometimes he responds to De be de be de and i point my finger to him, he sits and doesnt do anything
