Donna and Bruce are like any other couple except their relationship began on the streets.

Domestic violence landed Donna in the hospital. When she was released, she had nowhere to go. Bruce says he wound up on the streets due to a few bad decisions. The two met in a park and spent their nights in doorways and under bridges. I can only imagine how difficult this experience was for them.

Today, Bruce and Donna are residents of Nickelsville, a tent city outside of Seattle. Since settling there, life has started to improve for the couple. Here, they have found a sense of community, structure, and a feeling of permanence.

Rather than write anything about Nickelsville, I urge you to learn about this tent city from a residents perspective. Bruces comments about Nickelsville and re-integration into permanent housing will open your eyes.

  • @catalinaguerrero So white men don't mistreat or abuse their wives. Okay...yea right. Sounds like this man (who happens to be black) is a survivor -- nice, hardworking, articulate (who admittedly made some mistakes and learned from them). We don't know the race of her previous husband who abused her. ...And why does it matter anyway? The violence should be what we object to, not the race of an individual. God created all of us so we're all his children regardless of ethnicity.

  • Bruce and Donna have been indoors since November of last year and as of May 4th have their own place. Bruce is now an advisory board member of One4One and goes out with us to the same streets he used to hustle and do dirt on to distribute blankets, socks, sleeping bags, etc., and to tell people that there is more to life than this, that they are meant for me, and to help work with people on getting them off the streets and work with those that are addicted. Donna is about to enroll in college.

  • @765tony I couldn't agree with you more, not all homeless are drug addicts, some are just so mentally disabled they can not hold a job, don't they deserve a chance to have a somewhat normal life, or should they be punished for being born that way.....

  • @FissionNonStop Shut up man. Why the fuck do you type like that? I cant even read that shit...

  • @TheEMPIRED How?

  • @BellumSacrumBellum28 your a rich naive heartless asshole. Im pissing on you from a great height.

  • ughhh, ughh, ughhh ughhh

    GET A JOB

  • @DustinCross141 Doesn't surprise me.

Bruce seemed to have a good resume as a manager until he bought that house and had his divorce. Also, turned to drugs to make "easy" money.

So, if it is true and that he and his lady are in a house, it doesn't surprise me.

  • nigga needs tah slang sum rocks. den hed be rollin in cash NIGGA

  • @BellumSacrumBellum28 there are SOME that are homeless because of drugs, violence etc. but then again most are homeless because they left home and didnt make it, or they may have lost there job when they were living on every paycheck. you cant judge these people for being homeless. you must look for the grey matter that surrounds every one of them.
