  • Can this kit also be used on the campfire in case out of fuel for whatever reason? Is it durable enough for that use? Can any of it be integrated with the Swedish Military Cookset/Stove?

  • @PracticalBushcraft1 Awesome question. The kit doens't appear to be durable enough to be used directly on a campfire. You would have to use indirect heat somehow. I wouldn't put the pots directly over fire. You can with the Swedish mess kit. I've tried to trangia burner from my swedish military cook kit with this and found that it's to big to fit in the stove holder.

All in all, I do think that the 27-7 is a good cook kit. But I feel that the Swedish Military cook kit is far superior.

  • Do you think this stove can be used as a full time stove in a student home?

  • @blankets1453 You should be able to. As long as where your staying doesn't have an issue with using an alcohol stove.

  • Thanks for the review, very helpful. What do you carry when solo backpacking? The Trangia mini?

  • @ForViewingOnly I carry a MSR Titan Ti kettle with a Caldera Cone. Usually when I am on a solo trek, All I need is boiling water. Thanks for watching.

  • Good review

    I just ordered the 27-2

Can't wait for it to come.

  • We have about 18 of these in my Scout troop here in Ireland, they're really handy and useful for hiking in the mountains etc.

  • Loved this review. Have the same thing myself, and before I use it, it was a great tip of you to just unhook the top before putting it out.

  • Does anyone know what the second seven stands for in the 27-7?

  • When you put out the flame it is safer to grip the simmer ring by the "ear" holding the gripping handle upside down, you can easily put the fire out without having your hand in the chimney. Taking off the chimney introduces risk in that the flame is blowing around uncontrollably from wind. Bad if you're cooking in your vestibule.

  • Good review. Love my Trangia 25 HA.

  • Great stove. I've got the same stove and really enjoy cooking on it. I've put some videos of it up. Worth a look.

  • Great review! Thanks! Gonna pick one up now :)
