We're in South Australia and even though we had the terrible heatwave and the high winds we were miraculously spared from the horrific bushfires across the border in Victoria. It's cool again and so our little friend has ventured back into his gum trees.

How long did he actually stay and what finally happened to him?

He came back for three days during our record heatwave. Then the temps dropped below 40 and he disappeared. Yesterday it was 43C (109F) and sure enough he came back! He seems to be doing fine now.
