===================================
Second week of January is over and done. It was a busy week but I did get a few days away with the family, which was lovely.
I did, however, come back on Monday night for the flood memorial service and I noticed in today's Chronicle that the election was well underway.
Can I just state at this stage that I did not say that the communications department at council was below par. I did, however, say that the Councillors' communication with those in the outlying regions was well below par.
During the week I did mention that I was very concerned that Councillors as well as the Executive were not able to implement an economic strategy in the first four years. There were a number of excuses but I don't think any of them were good enough. Economic development is such an important driver of our region but I do look forward to seeing it commence very early in the new year.
I did also have people raise the fact that why didnt I mention those things on my YouTube video before now. Can I just let you know that I did -- during Council meetings, Chamber meetings, committee meetings and briefings in private -- I mentioned them continuously. Some times I felt like a voice in the wilderness, but I did mention them.
The other thing is that those issues aren't always newsworthy with the local media, and are usually ignored.
At most Council meetings, there is usually no-one there from the public so not everyone knows everything that is going on.
I also had the opportunity to give my first blog, which I did find a little bit daunting -- sitting in front of a screen and talking to yourself I still find it a little bit daunting. But in future I will try to relax and I will definitely keep trying to smile and to inspire.
Somebody during the week mentioned that I had a face for radio, well that's not the case and I will try to improve. I hope you enjoy and keep giving me your feedback, so once again thanks for taking the time to listen.
