  • Fabulous! Her voice has always been exquisitely beautiful, and her musicianship so moving. This shows both to perfection.

  • Very nice, very nice, one singing lesson for the young singers

  • My first time to hear Susan Dunn (I'm almost ashamed, but cannot know them all), and I am overwhelmed. This is absolutely world class. Whatever happened to her(when reading all the comments), she has proved she could do it!! And now I am off ordering cd's. What a voice.

  • Beautiful. Music and voice. A wonderful singer.

Nice to hear something that hasn't been recorded hundreds of times.

    thanks for the great post.

  • superbe, magnifique, oui une belle leçon de chant, merci Madame

  • I wish the clip showed more of the applause at the end. It went on for quite a long period of time, and Susan became rather emotional. Alas, she is not able to do work the same miracle with the bolero aria...

  • @NYCSizzle You were lucky to sing the requiem with Dunn. I saw here her in Atlanta at one of those performances and she was so good, especially in the Libera me, the ethereal note toward the end I still remember fondly. I do think her main problem that contributed to the voice failing early was taking on opera parts that were far to heavy. Elena Suliotis made the same mistake and her voice was shattered before age 30- singing things like Nabucco at 22, Aida at 23, Norma at 25, etc.

  • @semiramide1945 Lucky me. Sang a Verdi Requiem in Atlanta in mid 80s when she was definitely at her peak. The recording won a Grammy - Shaw/ASOC - and her voice was remarkable. Then while at Northwestern University in the early 90s, I sang with the CSOC in a Beethoven 9 at the Ravinia Festival, and well.... she didn't have the High B for the infamous 'flugel weilt' phrase for the soloists. It was a sad moment... I know she HAD vocal problems (oversinging, perhaps?), but still love her!

  • @urgrad03

She does give recitals/perform in other events at and around Duke. If you get on any of the Duke music department mailing lists (e.g. Google "Duke voicenotes") the dates will likely show up there.

    Her voice is still beautiful.

  • @sevoflurane il DVD completo di questa recita è in commercio così come quello della Giovanna d´Arco, sempre da Bologna
