I've been photographing seasonal fireworks stands in Tennessee since 2004. To date I've driven thousands of miles and have met the most amazing, hard working folks on the planet. This is a piece I created from a fraction of my images, plus sound and interviews I recorded. For more information, contact me: photo(at)heatherlose.com -- remove the (at) and add an "at symbol." Thanks for watching!
Watching this video is kinda sad, to me anyway. All these people in Tennessee trying to sell what is so common everywhere in the state. It's like trying to sell bottled water next to another person trying to sell the same thing. Some of the stands you show in this video seem to be really outdated and run down, The cucumbers being sold with the fireworks just goes to show you how hard times are and how down to earth people can be.

23 years ago my father took us kids on a trip to Disney World, we drove of course, but I remember hearing about fireworks in Tennessee. Well, we ended up in Tennessee and I remember seeing firework stands everywhere. Gas stations, grocery stores had firework sales. I couldn't believe my eyes, I wanted to go in every single place that sold fireworks. That didn't happen, but I can remember the large buildings with the big flashy signs everywhere.
