Hi Jerry, When I first bought this bird feeder pole I thought no squirrel would be able to climb it....I was wrong.
So using the wheel bearing grease took care of that problem.

Hi Bill, very interesting,I have heard of this before, and i know it works. I live in a resort where we have a lot of birds, but not a lot of squirrels anymore, only at the lake. Thanks for sharing this.5*****jERRY

You could hang the feeder from a tree branch, then you can get plastic domes that sit just above the bird feeder, when the squirrels come down from above (as it would be the only access point) they land on the dome and simply slide off falling on to the ground. This way also keeps the seed dry, or you can simply put the dome half way up the poll this stops them being able to climb the pole. search google for "anti squirrel dome" I think these are a much better and safer way than using grease.

@icsp2 I have a new anti-squrirrel bird feeder since I made this video.
The new feeder has a cage around with the bird perches on it, when a squriell gets on it the cage the cage closes off the holes so the squirrel can't get at the seed.
It don't close for the birds because the birds are much lighter.
