Roman Polanski's victim says scrutiny caused by the director's arrest is causing her health problems and job worries. Samantha Geimer is urging a California appeals court to dismiss the criminal case against the director. (Oct. 27)
I like his films but he raped a minor and that is a terrilbe offence so justice must be done no matter how many years later i feel for the victin through
Again, liar, time served IS NOT considered part of the punishment because he didn't face sentencing. The sentence was NEVER PRONOUNCED OR EVEN ANNOUNCED in absentia so he CAN NOT receive credit for time served. U really so stupid that U can't grasp that ? If the sentence had been pronounced before he fled, he may have the 42 days credited but of course he'd wear extra time for fleeing custody and contempt. So NONE of it counts - he fled so all deals were immediately off the table. Ok dumbass?
According to the lawyers involved the judge had secretly agreed to the plea. Not only that but the 42 days Polanski was incarcerated for was considered part of the punishment. What the judge did was dishonorable even if he had power to do so!
Yes he did flee before sentencing. If not, there wouldn't be an arrest warrant out for him. The assessment was necessary for the judge to decide on the punishment.
The plea deal was worked out between the prosecutor and the DA. Polanski acknowledged that the judge was not obligated to accept it, He was given time to finish a movie and decided to escape to France where he won't be extradited. Since Polanski didn't go to sentencing, we'll never know for sure what the final decision was.

the settlement was for a civil suit. nothing to do with the criminal charge. it's unclear if he actually paid the settlement.
he was arrested for fleeing sentencing.

totally agree. the media is not known for ignoring a 'good' story.
why would anyone go public and identify herself as the victim if she's not ready to deal with the consequences and scrutiny?

Yeah we should throw Samantha Geimer in jail too. I dare she? How egoist can she be? She's supporting rape and pedophilia.
(sarcastic mode off)
Seriously people the case is settled, she forgave him, she want the case to go away. She moved on with her life. Move on with yours people.
