I loved my rats that I had as pets. I didn't know they "laughed", but I love this video every time I see it. They are highly intelligent and have wonderful personalities that are just as unique from each other as pet dogs and cats are. Mine would get excited and dig and burrow in the clean litter when I cleaned his cage. Like others have said, rats realy are clean animals.
@JoanIsNotTheMaid oh c'mon. They are so friendly and so loving. Seen Inglorious Basterds? Landa says it perfectly, "You don't know why you hate the rat, you just know you find them repulsive." My theory is it's the tails. I think those bare tails creep people out. They're cute without the tail, are they not?
PET rats are harmless, lovely creatures who are clean, healthy and very loving, when taken care of properly.
They have a bad reputation from their wild cousins. Rats are not gross, disgusting animals, their wonderful. I used to have two of them an I loved them dearly.
Stevie? Is that you? Anyway, you meant *and & *they're.
Uhm, pet rats aren't particularly loving, actually.
And "wild" rats ARE the majority, you know. It's what's most natural for rats. It isn't as much "a bad reputation from their wild cousins" as it is their NATURAL mannerisms and characteristics trained and washed out of them.

*Shrugs*
But, alas, that is your opinion and your entitled to it.
Have a good day, JoanIsNotTheMaid.
