Why would his grandmother have the story? Wouldn't the family name have been passed down through sons? Given the times, wouldn't his grandma Spengler only be a Spengler in name from marrying into the family?

Okay, they just said that it's a demon. But there's still that statue that claims Egon's ancestor drove out witchcraft...what's up with that? Why not just say that he banished a demon?

I hate it when shows and movies do this. It's like justifying all the torture and murder that took place during the witch trials. Ghosts and monsters are one thing, but it should draw the line somewhere.
