I am an Australian and i lived in Bosnia for 4 months knowing hardly any of the Bosnian language, but by simply watching Bosnian subtitled TV, listening constantly & deciphering conversations locals would have and occasionally looking words up in a dictionary, i have learnt A LOT!! My #1 tip for learning a language is to live amongst it & be forced to speak it!

well i think you should try to think on the word as a thought an not as a english word translated to bosnian so when you say the word nebo, for instance, you should have the picture of the sky in your head not the word sky, so have i learned english
good luck

the way I learned English is that I was put in a situation where I had to learn it - I guess people find a way to learn something when they have to - try to use dictionaries and translations (of English sentences) to a minimum when communicating
when the process gets really hard and irritating you know you are learning - the best way to learn a language is in huge chunks so do as much of learning as you can in one study session
You should write anything on note cards and bring them with you while going on errands. I know it sounds silly, but you should stand up while learning Bosnian because people in general communicate most of the time on their feet. This is because an English teacher in Japan once told me that his adult students always wanted to sit down while reciting English, then he made them stand up so that those students could apply their skills to the real world. Good luck!

When you label everything. Also put on the label how it is pronounced! That way you won`t be saying it wrong!
Be good....

good point - although one advantage with Bosnian is it's all spelt phonetically, so once you know how each letter should be pronounced it's not too complicated to read stuff.
