A look at my time in Afghanistan from November 2002 to February 2003. I was on loan to a reserve unit, literally plucked a few weeks before deployment.

I created this little slideshow using some of the photos I took while over there.

(due to YouTube time constraints, I had to break it into two pieces -- be sure to watch Part 2)

  • Bravo, good to know you're doing well. Appreciate the work you put into both uploads. It was great serving with you during this time.

MSG (Ret) then SFC aka TOP Diaz

  • @prdjquik HEY! What's up TOP? So cool that you found the video! Make sure you share with other 48th CSH troops who might not have seen it! :-) I had a great time serving with you, too. You really ran a tight but fair and fun ship. Wish I had been able to spend the whole time with you guys over there.

  • How long ago was this?

  • Nov 2002 thru Feb 2003

  • Glad you liked the music selections, LDR! Good luck in Kandahar. Keep your head down and just try to remember it that it is an important experience that will shape who you are for years to come -- stick close to your pals and keep your head down! And horde the Tabasco ...

  • And yes -- I was with an amazing group of people, treating our soldiers as well as the Afghani people. I had a great experience.

  • I spent a couple of weeks with the 48th CSH when I worked for RTS Med. Good bunch of people out there. Glad to hear their medical equipment was in good hands.

  • 6 months - ALL branches should shorten their tours to 6 months. A year is too freaking long.

  • Very cool. I wish the technology was available to us in Desert Storm, I could have done somehing like this. Of course I'd have needed YOUR imagination. I was "plucked" from WACH, Ft. Bragg and went in place of a SM with a son whose spouse was already there, seemed the right thing to do. Attached to the 3rd ACR as thier replacement BMET, I was a Trooper for a short time, great soldiers, all. Welcome home and thanks for continuing to serve, by working for the VA.

  • sounds like "aleluya" from the shreck movie.

  • its so nice now,all paved,movies gyms,green bean coffee,GREAT grub,red bull,uso,you'll have a blast.Get ready to be bored stiff!
