We snuck in a day early to the CES Convention Centre and saw what the Micosoft stand had to offer. Here are some touchscreen user terminals powered by Windows 7 and some nice chaps explaining why it's so good

  • gimmick. fix windows, don't make it touch!

people don't want to sit at a desk and reach for their monitor and a touch screen that size is not terribly consumer friendly now.

  • I think they should make it say

    Windows Seven.

    instead of Windows 7.

idk it kinda makes windows look generic or somethen with it sayin Winowds 7

    plus Windows Seven.

    looks better

  • @TheNamesHeydn windows 7 is a confusing but cool name : ) i first thought windows 7 appeared in the 1997 xD

  • wow replying to a 8 month old post dude

  • windows isnt meant to be complicated. since its one of the first windows to fully implement touch screen to this capability, give it a bit of time. windows was made to be simple for end users, and since its just a promo, give it a few years, maybe windows 8 might do a better job :P

  • i love touch screen stuff but u can easlyy and faster do all of these with mosue + keyboard.

  • i would like to see a mac do this

  • this would be to annoying. and retarded

  • The problem is that Apple recently got a patent that makes it so nobody can flick through photos like the iphone does.

  • the problem is that Windows 7 isn't dynamic enough when it comes to their overall interface

for example, when using the touchscreen to switch between pictures, there is no smooth image->image transition, its just an abrupt "new image" switch

if they are going to take the idea from apple, they might as well finish the job and use the fluid photo switching the iphone/ipod touch has

  • Those 2 guys are really bad. Faking they're teaching each other + bad acting. I'm not even concerned while watching this, oh yeah nice touch screen but do we really need on desktop laptops? Mouse way to go.
