"This Otto engine, manufactured in Philadelphia, powered a wood working shop on Cumberland Island, Georgia. Nicholas A. Otto produced the first successful gasoline-powered internal-combustion four-cycle engine in 1876. It was based on a principle defined by Beau De Rochas in 1862."

  • Nice video, the first 4-stroke in 1876 was actually a gas engine not a gasoline. All they had in 1876 was coal/illuminating/town gas which were all composed of about 1/2 hydrogen.
