PGD or pre-genetic diagnosis is a complexed but very successful procedure, where a single cell or blastomere is removed from a day 3- eight cell embryo and the nucleus of that cell is than fixed to a slide. The nucleus of the cell contains the embryo's chromosomes; thereby, allowing the couple to determine the chromosome make-up of each embryo, to rule-out abnormalities like Down's Syndrome or to determine the sex of the embryo, for couples wanting to have either a boy or a girl. For more information about PGD for sex selection or to rule-out chromosome abnormalities please visit our web site at www.acfs2000.com and read about PGD under ART services.
