A riot is almost caused when a photographer is pulled from Liverpool St Tube station by police at the Circle Line drinks party to celebrate the ban on alcohol on London Underground
lonewolfxix- I don't really see how its the mayors fault- people are responsible for their own actions. Of course on a system as big and busy as the London Underground there will allways be drunks- but I don't think Johnson intended a sort of utopian idea of wiping it out completely, because he knew it wouldn't happen- but he had to do something amidst criticism.
Anyway why was the photographer following the police officer around. If he was simply recording the event it didn't seem professional. Im not a wet blanket, I just don't have time for this sort of anarchism- furthermore think of the delays it will cause to the system.
Well not really because you still have many people totally drunk getting on the tube, banning the consumption of alcohol - if anything - has cut down the ammount of cans of strongbow you see on the tube if anything, good yes, but it's still his fault it happened, i've in my 5years of regular visits to london, only seen 2 instances of people drinking on the tube - once i was drinking myself and going to a gig, the other? well, the tube party.
lonewolfxix- Im not a Londoner either but if I was there it would make me uncomfortable. Im certainly not against drinking and I can understand for some it may come across as a novel way to have fun. But look at it from the point of view of say... an elderly couple. Even if theres no violence or vandalism people shouting rowdily can be unsettling. The majority of people don't want this so why should the minority impose it? Anyway the mayor has obviously put this in place for a valid reason.
Although i am not a Londoner, i have been on the tube quite a lot as i spend a lot of my spare time there, i have never had a problem with drunks and this DOESN'T stop drunks getting on the tube, it stops people going on the tube with alcohol. The tube party - not what i was expecting - though i went - was a bit of disaster from the original idea which was to prove Boris wrong by being civilised people and enjoying a drink on the tube. People drinking is not a problem, overindulgence is.

So many of the police in Britain were clearly bullied as kids and have control issues

Utter disrespect shown to the police. Those guilty of this should be utterly ashamed.
