solid state drives are like huge thumb drives. They are WAY faster than normal hard drives. They also cant break if you drop one, unlike a hard drive with it disks. I have heard they are lighter too.

hope this helped....me personally..I would choose the normal hard drives just because its a lot cheaper and have more memory or space...if your concerned about speed on the drive and dont have or want to spend a lot of money check on how many rpm does the harddrive you want run on...a good rpm count is between 5400rpm or 7200...it your choice but the apple online store is sometimes pretty limited...hope this helped
