Tax Foundation President Scott Hodge appeared on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto" on June 3, 2009 to discuss proposals to tax health care benefits.
Taxing health care benefits is necessary to give more power to individuals, because now, employer health insurance benefits are fully tax deductible, but individual health insurance is not. This is unfair.
It's a necessary step towards a more free-market health care system, and we can offset the change in taxes with a decrease in income tax.
Really, Nationalized Health care isn't about health care, but a new opportunity for Democrats to raise taxes and expand government. The health care that the Democrats will give us will be more expensive, rationed, poor quality, and, to add insult to *injury*, we will have longer wait times for care.
