Labcenter Proteus Isis and Ares Tutorial: Simulating 555 Timer

This tutorial shows you how to create circuits in Proteus Isis, simulate them and then create PCB with Proteus.

Proteus is software for microprocessor simulation, schematic capture, and printed circuit board (PCB) design. It is developed by Labcenter Electronics.
The Proteus Design Suite inludes:
* ISIS - A schematic capture tool with the possibility to simulate programmable ICs like Microchip PIC, Atmel AVR (ATmega8, ATmega32, or ATtiny2313) etc.
*ARES - for PCB layouts.

The URL for Proteus is http://www.labcenter.co.uk/

Unfortunately, there are few / no good tutorials for Proteus out there, and therefore I took the trouble of making one myself. The tutorial has 3 parts. First part demonstrates Drawing circuits in Proteus Isis. Second part shows how to simulate circuits in Proteus ISIS, and how to export to ARES for making PCB layout. The third video shows Routing and how to print masks for PCB making. To learn more about PCB making visit: http://www.sajidmc.net/en/2009/02/creating-a-pcb-the-toru-bhai-style/

In this tutorial uses the 555 timer circuit taken from http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/gadgets/555/555.html

  • Yes you can chose which layers the autorouter users

  • @Davespenner I know. See my vid watch?v=03dlGIDw6kM

  • Hi! Great tutorial! Is there a way to change all pads at once in a board? or we have to do this one by one?

  • I wish I knew that answer. In eagle, it is so easy to edit these templates at once. I wish Proteus would also implement customizations for pad and tracks to change them all at once.

  • Very good job mate... It was extremely helpful for me.. are there going to be other videos? and if yes, when and how many more?

Looking forward to your new work.. Cheers

  • what version of proteus is this sir?

  • well.. You can choose one layer in auto route.. All you have to do is live only the one layer you want.

  • you can pick the cooper side, just go to:

    1) tools

    2) desing rule manager

    3) net clasess (tab)

    4) change the option in "layer assignment for autorouting".

and that all.... thnks for the video :D 5/5

  • Thanks a lot for this tutorial, I had trouble remembering how to do all this after not using Proteus since school 7 years ago. Luckily nothing seams to have chanced.

  • Excellent tutorial. Thanks ☺☺☺☺☺
