Whenever you showed the marine technique, the first time you tried to wrap it around you leg and went the wrong way. You can use the foot that doesn't have the rope around it and stand on your foot with the rope as a brake. You don't have to worry about re wrapping or missing your foot with the rope that way

marines dont take breaks climbing ropes we give the grunts that technicue so they can stop for a second and catch thier breath its not meant to be taken literally but if u dont have the strength to climb a rope the third tech is prob the most effective

One thing to take in consideration is the weight of the rope doing your style I like if short rope but, long weight management is maybe better the marine way. I don't know just saying. Would like to see though.
