    It is 5 FM channels, 1 DAC/Sample channel and 2 PSG+1 Noise from the SN76489, totalling at 9 which is well within the channel limits.

  • FM synethesis completely destroys shitty low-resolution sample-based music. Thus, Genesis sound chip downright obliterates the SNES sound chip. Yes, I said it.

    Also, in response to what Geckoyamori said, it's actually 6FM channels and 4 PSG. For FM channel 3, operator frequencies can be set independently and for FM channel 6, the FM functionality can be replaced by PCM sample funcionality. For the PSG channels, square 3 can be used to control the noise channel pitch. All 10 channels can be used if you know what you're doing.
