  • i have loved this song since it came out on Still Crazy After All These Years around 1976. It so exactly described the 'dead and dying' town where I grew up that I wondered if S&G had been here...I didn't realize there are a lot of little towns like that. I saved my money, I dreamt of glory, but guess where I ended up living?

  • this album and music as such is just too beautiful for this ugly world to appreciate.

  • Paul Simons voice is even more amazing than back in the 60's. Art Garfunkels not so much

  • @iceman10177 How true. I just re discovered them in 2008 but never saw them together

though I will keep all those tickets for 2010 forever.

  • It's actually about Canahoharie , New York. You lucky people I had 14 tickets to nowhere in 2010.

  • This song reminds me of Greenfield, Mo population of 1300 or so. I am known only as Larry's boy although I'm 51, now. My Dad isn't famous but everyone knows him. Perhaps that is being famous in my little town...

  • This is song could be about Pittsburgh, where I am from. I couldnt wait for the day to move, and now I'm in Chicago, and much happier.

  • I absolutely worship this song. :-)

  • @StarRiders100 Just because he grew up in large city doesn't mean he can't write about small town america. And there are many small towns within an hours drive of NYC that could have inspired him writing this. But I assume you are being facetious in you post :-)

  • all of us can relate to this song--cause when we were young and our parents struggling to make a life for us to get by-and doing all they could and doing all they could for us --and we didn't realize it until we got to there age--our lives at that time were innocent-and the rainbows did have color and we felt we could follow them -only to find out the color is black--our youth is the only times where we were truthfully carefree--and could be.

  • The best video of this is not on youtube but it was when they did 2 versions of it on SNL> 1 was the rehearsal show and the other was what was on live tv. I saw the Live tv version back in 1975 when it aired live.

  • I loved that link at the end.
