Im an open wheel fan to the max but ovals to me are a different kinda animal. It takes a very special Godspeed talent to race on one.

@azapro911 Drivers are allowed to race hurt all of time, but that was a different era than now. A great talent lost far too young. RIP Greg Moore

@pixarfan9099 Dan was 98, but your sentiment is welcomed nonetheless

I have new found respect for Montoya now.

dan wheldon drove the 98

Another crazy thing about this: Greg drove #99. What was the number Dan Wheldon won the Indy 500 in? 99. RIP Greg and Dan.

Such a difference between the way this was handled and the way the Wheldon situation was handled. Cant really tell if restarting the race or abandoning it is the better move. Its just weird looking at the differences in the atmosphere at the track after the 2 incidents.

12 years today, almost to the moment and I still cannot believe that the CART medical team allowed Greg Moore to start this race. Looking beyond the awful tragedy for a second, I think back to Saturday evening, after Greg had broken his hand, when he demanded to be allowed to start, in a 230mph+ champcar, on a super speedway, for 250 laps, with a broken hand propped up by a special brace. 5 practice laps did not make him fit for this race, he should not have started. RIP Greg. We still miss you.

The events of yesterday brought all these horrible memories flooding back, a day that should have been a celebration ends with such sorrow.
To quote Marty Reid yesterday
"People often ask me why I sign off with 'until we meet again', because goodbye is always so final, Goodbye Greg Moore & Dan Wheldon"
RIP Greg & Dan

He was the best drivers in CART's history.
Number 99 4ever. Greg could have driven with Team Penske and joined Ferrari in Formula One.
