Salvationists themselves are all about music, nothing else. Ask a local Salvationist what he/she does to serve others-'play or sing' will be their response and maybe collect money to keep their church open. This homophobic organisation that everyone thinks 'does a good job' has got away with this for far too long. BTW - as far as loving the 'unwashed' enter a SA building smelling of alcohol and see what happens - No welcome there for you! It is time folk new the truth about this cult!
I am not naive at all! Dear folks, never buy a War Cry-10% goes to their Divisional headquarters for admin,30% go to pay cost of papers, and the rest to pay the local SA church (corps) for ministers salary(officer) and heating and lighting for their Sunday Services.Salvationists give very poorly btw! Never donate while the band is playing either, like at Xmas, the band takes all the donations. All the SA social work in the UK is funded by the government.
It is a pity that tartandaddy is so naive when it comes to The Salvation Army and what William Booth was all about and to why the uniform become apart of the church. It gave them a purpose to go out and save souls and win hearts for God. The Salvation Army became a church who got away from other churches who did not look at those who were different, smelt from not washing, had no home, no job and yet is still here today working along side those who others did not want to know. God Bless
The Salvation army - a group of people who need to dress up and perform, but wish to do it with the respectability 'religion' brings. In truth - it is just another amateur dramatics group - with a whole lot of 'drama'.
Just finished a biography about William and Catherine from a very critical source. It was less than inspirational in some parts but, having gotten the matter of organizational politics out of the way, the Booth testimony still rings loud and true. Nostalgia aside, the "Salvationist is a friend of everyman"...
Thanks for that Sebbo......You have confirmed once again that imitation is the greatest form of flattery.....I hope your Channel is as successful as H15GWPand reaches in excess of a 1/4 million hits. I enjoyed the Cambridge Band very much..I like to hear Bands playing out of doors..
