@weatherlgfan there's even marine forecasts on your radio! That's also outta the question being a few hundred miles from lake michigan.....

@timd941 Lol. I agree with the Tropical Weather idea. Here I think they became more alert after an F3 tornado hit outside DC in 2002 and the blizzards in 2010. And with about the 56 inches we got of rain in 2011, the Flood Warnings/Flash Flood Warnings are becoming more warrant. And yeah, this weather radio is the WR-100 and is about 20$-40$ depending on where you get it. It is really nice!

@weatherlgfan I'm from Illinois so Tropical Weather Warnings are out of the question. I guess it depends on where you're from. My weather alarm isn't like yours and nowhere near as cool. I wanna get a radio like yours!

@timd941 They send out literally EVERYTHING. Tornado Watches/Warnings, Severe Thunderstorm Watches/Warnings, Flood Watches/Warnings, Flash Flood Watches/Warnings, Civil Emergency Messages, Child Abduction Emergencies, Hurricane Warnings/Tropical Storm Warnings, Winter Storm Watches/Warnings, and the tests on Wednesdays (or at least to my knowledge, they may have more they issue). The only ones they DON'T do here are follow up statements/advisories.

@weatherlgfan I never knew they send out winter storm warnings. As far as I know, my weather alarm only goes off at 11 a.m. wednesdays (test run) and only for severe thunderstorm watches and warnings, and tornado watches and warnings. Only when a flood advisory is occuring at the same time would it go off because of that, but generally not for floods.

@SPCcranford1056 Yeah. It was 4:00 in the morning when they sent it out. I was actually awake an hour before, and I must not have heard it go off, so I woke up to a winter storm warning light on it at 5:30.
