The illness is what killed him in the end.

Plus Sasuke was LOSING.

Now, I know that Itachi's awesome, but Sasuke...FAILURE!

@SKILL3RS101 Itachi was most probably the strongest Uchiha in respect to his potential. I say this because while Madara is stronger, he is only stronger because his brother gave him his eyes, and both Madara and his brother were the strongest Uchihas. Itachi on the other hand was this badass, without anyone's eyes, and even his own eyes were almost dead. But disregarding all that, he did not even want to kill Sasuke. He wanted to make him stronger by giving Sasuke his own eyes.

@SKILL3RS101 Well if you like itachi, although nothing than a fiction character, then how about respect the his love for sasuke? I know he'd spared sasuke for personal reasons too but his main reason was out of love. I'm sure if he'd existed he wouldn't have wanted people to see people talk bad of his little brother... boyy I'm taking this too serious x'D

Itachi did have an illness we are told this when madara tells sasuke the truth if I can remember correctly also madara also told sasuke that itachi could have killed him in this fight if itachi were to have gotten serious @ the getgo

hey i agree that skill3rs101 is right itachi was dying from a illness and itachi wanted to die because he was going blind his eyes sickened him he let sasake beat him thats a fact...sasake goes blind after 10 months eneny way and itachi had the mankekyo shatigun for like 10 years befor he started to go blind ITACHI IS BEAST-SASAKE IS A WEAK BITCH

@9tailsjinchuuriki I know I know, and I suppose that his fireball jutsu DID match the ameratsure (yeah, I failed that 1 I'm pretty sure XD) but anyway, my point is that the achievement isn't all that much when you think about it XD

P.S. My favourite character is Shikamaru because he reminds me of myself XD (maybe he's a LITTLE bit smarter, and that's the only real difference which is surprising. Yes, that does mean I can control and kill you with shadows!)
