My grandfather used to say that back in the day he walked 3 miles to school, up hill both ways. The miracle of modern technology could now make this possible.

does noone understand that all he is doing is walking. But on a elevated platform . If anything it slows him down. I mean serously. Its just walking.

What happens when you go down hill? Is it possible that it moves so fast and turns the belt so fast that you can't keep up?

It works the same way as the peddles of a bicycle, they can also be hold still when going downhill.
