In this Swing Time clip, Lucky, Astaire, saves Penny's, Rogers, job by showing how much she has taught him.
The first true dance number with the two, the other being with Fred fumbling and pretending to be a terrible dancer. Both scenes, however, go to the same song, Pick Yourself Up, this scene without lyrics and much more lively with the other more calm, with lyrics, between the two.
Music by Jerome Kern and Lyrics by Dorothy Fields

In fact, tap can also be ensemble dancing too. See Bojangles of Harlem, from this same film, where it features an elaborate ensemble routine, where Fred dances with 24 women, plus an Astaire solo as well, where he out dances his own shadows.

Tap is both solo and paired. Fred and Ginger also did solos in their films. At least one for Fred in each film, whereas Ginger only had two solos in their ten films. Their other style was "Ballroom", but it wasn't like today's stiff ballroom style, for with Astaire (and Pan) as choreographers, it was heavily influenced by rhythm. The incredible thing is that each and every step (and note) was original. I still can't get over how very good they were. We are so lucky to have it all on film.
