In this Swing Time clip, Lucky, Astaire, saves Penny's, Rogers, job by showing how much she has taught him.

The first true dance number with the two, the other being with Fred fumbling and pretending to be a terrible dancer. Both scenes, however, go to the same song, Pick Yourself Up, this scene without lyrics and much more lively with the other more calm, with lyrics, between the two.

Music by Jerome Kern and Lyrics by Dorothy Fields

  • I love how they just casually walk out at the end. :)

  • Just two super human beings that had talent and poise. They exuded class in everything they did. The world so misses people like these.

  • I'm in love with her dress!it moves so swiftly

  • @TheMedievalBabe Yeah, kinda like now.

they were a bunch of hacks back then too who got by almost entirely on looks if they were female. well, some of them, like Marilyn, Jayne, Liz, etc. Dont pretend just because it's in black in white it's somehow better. please. pseudo-nostalgia is stupid.

  • @JazzyBiebs what does your age have to do with anything?

  • @ErrrrrrRia Not only is that amazing, but look at the video again. Ginger matched Fred's dance step for step, but she did it in heels and and danced BACKWARDS!

  • AAAMAAAZZZING!!!!!!! :D

  • Ahh, I want that dress :(

  • This is a "savory" video. =p

  • @saxon954....This sequence of song and dance depicts exactly what you say. Ginger is having the rottenist day of her life. She gets fired. But then, after this dance, is re-hired. In "Follow the Fleet"...the film before "Swing Time"...director Sandrich has her fired too, in a very well acted sequence. But things don't get patched up really until the very end of that film.....in one of the truly greatest paired dances of the 20th century..."Let's Face the Music and Dance".
