@igalflint Don't know about the rest of you, but I'd love to read here of Linda re-connecting with someone who clearly knows love.
As to "much beyond his time", I share with you "Time is as we can conceive it. None of us has yet perceived it" from Shawn's "Most of Us Don't Understand at all. Time is simply a mental construct, an organizational framework for actions in the human realm. We humans are here for the experiences. Shawn shares the experiences he recommends we find valuable. Love
@TheSnoopy1975 As innovative and wonderful as Pink Floyd is, to hear from a rock music lover that "got" Shawn Phillips from listening once to one song, causes my heart to soar! Thank you for sharing.
@Spiritgirldance That first sentence, my dear, is the best comment on the entirety of YouTube. Shawn understands life so much more deeply than the vast majority of beings who still inhabit our planet these days. Despite his eloquence, most people still can't seem to hear what his music is. This fact pains me deeply.
And yet, those of us who do comprehend Shawn Phillips are actually "legion", just as he claims in "Take the Day" (which somebody oughta figure out how to post up here, soon).
Fantastic! To take a truly wondrous song - undoubtedly Shawn Phillips' best-known-and-loved song, and make it go so far beyond great with the addition of this intro -- I am in total awe. Hearing the audience respond brings me such a warm smile each time I listen.
Linksluvr, I am not challenging you to top this video, but if you have anything anywhere near it, please go ahead and post, because such worthy experiences demand to be shared. God bless you!
When I first heard one of his songs at a party I was 14 yo living in Detroit. I was into most all rock and roll and had just seen Pink Floyd that year 1975 and also The Who with Kieth Moon. After hearing this one song I bought the album Collaboration and it changed my life for the better. I wanted and still want the car that is pictured on the front of the album. Was great beautiful music a far cry from heavy metal. I thank Shawn for his wonderful songs.
Thank God there are others who comprehend Shawn Phillips! His music helped me through the years of my brother's death, my divorce and numerous life changes! MY! Haven't we all lived through a LOT!? I also own everything he created.
