**Update**
I did the exam and passed with 130 distinction - yay! Examiners comments at the bottom.

Grade 5 2007-2008 Syllabus
A:3 - Scherzo in A
B:1 - La Chevaleresque
C:1 - Jackson Street Blues

I'm doing all of these pieces for my Grade 5 on Thursday (27th March). I always make mistakes when recording! ;)

A3 - 26 - This was a contrasted [?] performance with musically felt dynamics, and quite a flair in the cadential [?] passages. What a shame for the unsteady underlying pulse, as the performance was highly personal.

B1 - 27 - Here again, you succeed in creating varied characters and colours, although your tempo was perhaps on the ambitious side, which caused the final runs to jumble a bit. I liked the held final chord, and the care you had taken to build a musical performance in spite of the slips along the way.

C1 - 28 - Another musical performance, with a well understood jazz idiom. Chords were safely judged but occasionally overwhelmed the melody line. However, this performance was musically mature, and the pulse was more in your control here. Well done.

  • well people have their own preference :) with classical music there's lots of interpretation with tempo, dynamics etc. in fact in some of the pieces I play, i change the chords as well.

  • @Shaftsus actually pop/justin bieber or what the fuck you listen to is a waste of time. classical music has been since 1400 and now its almost 2011 now and classical music hasn't changed a bit.

so classical music isn't a waste of time. popfuck is. avril lavring was popular in 2 months then she went away, soldier boy went away too, so did 50 cent and i can name thousands. but this is just a proof that classical music is better than any other music in the world.

  • you also learn excelletn technique, phrasing and dynamics (also how to make a good sound). then you can also play jazz. many jazz men are classically trained..if you have your own style you will mantain it.

  • @samyoe awesummmmmmmmm

  • @Shaftsus lool, how's piano goin for ya'?

  • @samyoe fuck 2 years and i still get shit for that comment lol

  • @Shaftsus nearly all the VERY BEST pianists orginally learnt piano classically. Many people I know focused on classical music till they passed their grade 8 exams and then they branched off into what they wanted to do with their mastered skills.

  • Your middle c is really far down

  • @macapacka blablablabla it's so boring - takes a lot of skill and awesome talent to compose a piece though but does it actually sound good to me? no.
