is it ok to use pipe cleaners?

You can certainly try pipe cleaners but I think they might be too fluffy. The stem - made of 5 long doubled up pipe cleaners - would be REALLY thick.

You can find floral wire at any craft store, it is a fairly common crafting thing!

omg its so hard to start with origami. just wanted to make a rose for my girlfriend and watched some videos but failed to make a rose. But now I'm into it and want to learn every sculpture- tried it with a crane, a scorpion but I think that those are bit to difficult for beginners too... anyway- I wont give up ;)

Definitely start easy! You want to start with the basic cup and dove and such. Work your way up to the harder shapes.

I've been spoiled by Phu Tran's rose. This rose looks hideously deformed compared to even Tahikazu Kawasaki's rose. At least you aren't charging $10 for this design.

if you do instructional videos, don't add music in the background. Beautiful music, but it's distracting and make it hard to follow (not joking)
