@greenscreeningthings Depeding on where you live. In the north of Scotland where I am it just does not produce enough power. Offshore wind parks is the way to go.

@MoDa87 very true. I do because of that prefer solar power. It can also be more compact. You can just install it discreetly on your roof. :-)

@greenscreeningthings What you mean is "barol trauma" it is created by the pressure changes that are created by the moving blades. They result in internal hemorrhaging and yes it does kill the bats. There are several scientists, including my ex professor for zoology, that are working on mitigation methods to prevent bats from flying close to wind turbines. But the important part is that overall the impact of car emissions created by ICE kill more flora and fauna than any turbines ever could.

my electricity comes from a windfarm in wales. so when i plug in a car it will be 0 emission. by signing up to a energy provider that uses wind energy i support the hange to renewables as a customer. I do not see why I need to do micro energy production to be 0 emission. the more people do it the larger the windparks will get. Just sign up to a provider like npower etc.

The UK is a very long way from providing power to our 60 plus million citizens via solar or wind power.

and we both know that.

Whilst electric cars are a great idea, no private home in this country creates enough solar or or wind energy to provide for the ends of an electric car and have power left to fuel their homes.

Accordingly the national grid remains the primary source for such power, and the primary source creates massive amounts of CO2

it all depends who you energy provider is. If you sign up to a wind energy deal or solar there is no CO2 released, and if you produce the electrisety at home it will be even more efficient.. it all depends on how you do it. And no matter what it still produces less co2 and other polutants than oil, plus it helps to get away with our adiction to oil.
