I really enjoyed Frederick playing this very uptempo version with spunk and vigor! It was written by George Cobb. It's a ragtime arrangement of one of Sergei Rachmaninoff's Preludes, the Prelude in C# minor, Opus 3, No. 2 It is a fun one to play, too...I've played it!

  • Great play!! It's even better getting to hear Hodges play in person. And I especially like Frederick's Russian Rag on his "Kitten on the Keys" CD, with the little extra excerpt he slips in from the good ol' Cold War days.

Where did you hear Frederick play in person? I agree, in person is the best! His vocals are also very entertaining...like "Veronica" for example.

  • Ida,

This one is fantastic. I'm thinking that even if I can't find it in my remaining 10 hours of tapes that this one is pretty darn hot anyway.

    Fun stuff!

  • This tune is very familiar to Benny Hill fans. Benny used the minor-key parts to underscore many of his comedy sketches. The ones that immediately spring to mind are delivering an urgent message from King Charles I, the Scarlet Pimple, and Wondergran Meets Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde.

  • Ida,

I can't remember if I got this one or not. I still have 10 hours of tapes to work though, so we'll see. This one that you captured is plenty good enough though. WONDERFUL ! ! !

  • Dr. Fred sure knows how to manufacture musical magic with a piano. Luvit. Thanks Karen!
