you can always have your opinion, but just to imply a last information kavakos is and will be the only one to whom was ever given permission to record the unrevised, original version of the first movement! And of course the permission was given from the sibelius society of finland itself as if it has never been interpreted better before, and neither will be ever.
i guess they are the most appropriate persons to judge especially on this concert

I know, Ferras remains a legendary violonist. It was just a humorous remark from my part, since it was Kavakos who won the first Sibelius prize. Ferras won the Scheveningen one. I just feel obliged to tell you that I first her Kavakos' rendition of this concert in 1988, broadcasted here in Greece from a state radio channel (it was not on record yet). I felt so mesmerized, that I was left speechless for long after. I am happy to realise I still feel the same after all these years. He is unique.
