Hell, I got the feeling that Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji were all capable of defeating any East Blue Saga villain (save for Smoker), but they tended to leave it to Luffy to fight the captain. Other times, they lose due to unfair circumstances. If Zoro knew about Buggy's powers, he could've beaten Buggy bare handed. If Zoro wasnt injured from Mihawk, he'd beat Arlong like a bitch.

The gods has set it up so that he is semi-permanently damaged so that his awe-inspiring strength wont break the universe.
Much the same way they made Luffy an idiot so that he wouldn't be too dangerous. (Though that just might have backfired....)

I REALLY THOUGHT THAT RUBBERBAND WAS GOING STRAIGHT AT ARLONG, BUT IT BOUNCED TO USOPP'S LEFT INSTEAD!!!! AND HACHI'S REACTION TO THIS!!! XD You gotta have a lot of guts to love One Piece, and I LOVE IT!!!
