It wasn't Shigeru Miyamoto's fault, it was Nintendo OF AMERICA's. Usually when localizing divisions for Japanese companies bring things outside of Japan, they censor things that parents are very unfamiliar with or don't want their children to see.

Anyway, nice animation. If the trailer for Puzzle War 2 was made, then it would be about Pokemon Puzzle League and its later edited version, which is the Nintendo Puzzle Collection version of Panel de Pon. Notice how their engines are identical?

Despite NOA's change, afterwards Panel de Pon was also replaced in Japan as Yoshi no Pon, cutting out Lip and her fairies' recognition until Nintendo Puzzle Collection, which was released only in Japan. (Not stopping fans from snagging a copy XD) Still, they got a small recognition in Smash Bros. Melee, which is where this story takes place. After Melee, before Puzzle Collection.

I wouldn't say Lip was ever replaced in Japan. Yoshi's PanePon did indeed get released there, but only on the obscure satellaview add-on for the SNES. Then for the Game Boy Advance, there was Dr. Mario and Puzzle League (Panel de Pon), which while not featuring Lip, it did have her little mascot pet, as well as Lip's theme song. I'd say that is more closer to Lip than Yoshi, so Yoshi hardly replaced her. Then the GCN version, and lastly, the DS release also contained Lip.

just want to point out i have never played either of these games and i dont know any of there history

ok i think i see whats happening yoshi island was originally panel de pon's island and then when tetris attack came out and i was more popular nintendo turned their island into yoshi island and now the characters from panel de pon are getting revenge or somethin

Let's see, Lip, Jill, Professor Layton, Chibi-Robo, Muddy Mole, Little Mac, Saki Amamiya, Starfy, Isaac, maybe even Lassi from Magical Starsign...

And very likely. She was one of the most requested characters for Brawl among those that didn't get in, and her theme song did get in.  It's likely she'll be a high priority next time.

No, I'm referring to the Green Greens stage that first appeared in Smash Brothers Melee and returned for Brawl.

Panel de Pon at least got to America in spirit (as Tetris Attack/Pokemon Puzzle Leage), games like Legend of Starfy and Fire Emblem took a while to finally bust out.

At least Lip's music, weapon, and image all appear in Brawl, along with several other fairies.

An interesting SSB-Melee snapshot you can get, throw Peach into her Daisy alternate costume, arm her with the Lip's Stick, have Kirby do the garbage block Down B in front of her, on the Dreamland stage.

But ay, that was originally a plan, but I can only assume they were worried Americans wouldn't know who she was and they wanted to push the Fire Emblem series more than the Panel de Pon. Fair enough logic, but it'd be nice to see some additional female fighters.
